"Lawlor's book, THE TEMPLE IN THE HOUSE, is a living temple in which the soul of architecture and the architecture of the soul are brilliantly invoked. The reader is magically led through patterns and proportions that transform the ordinary house into a charged place of spirit."

"THE TEMPLE IN THE HOUSE by Anthony Lawlor is a rare, important and beautiful book. It has style, substance, art, depth and usefulness. We all need to be educated in finding a home that pleases the soul. This is the best guide I’ve seen. I treasure it."

“Anthony Lawlor goes looking for the quality that compelled us to go to architecture school in the first place–the elusive yet insistent notion that sacredness can dwell in all places. He found it, and, better yet, he shares it with us.”

"Making THE LIVING TEMPLE showed me that sacred places are as essential to human life as eating and sleeping. Each day, billions of people enter these setting of profound peace and inspiration. Moving from culture to culture, I saw sacred architecture and art depicting those who came before us passing through trials and breakthroughs similar to our own. Beyond surface differences in style, these structures describe a shared human condition: getting basic necessities while trying to understand who we are, why we are here and where we are going. For thousands of years, geography and belief separated the sacred places of different countries. Now, the Internet, satellite television and international travel are drawing them into a LIVING TEMPLE of insight and inspiration.”
